This first photo is Richard nickname Pancho Gonzales considered by many to be one of the greatest all time players, whom as an active player was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 1968. This photo at 41years old was playing the number one American at the time was only 25years old. Mr Gonzales was able to be beat him in a marathon 5 hour and 30 minutes match at Wimbledon. AT age 43 in 1971 beat a brash 19-year-old Jimmy Connors from the Baseline at the Pacific Southwest open tournament and that same year he beat Grand Slam winner Rod Laver in 5 sets in the Madison Square Arena to a sell out crowd. You are not forgotten Mr. Gonzalez “Bravo”!!!
What can I say Miss Evert other than I seen her one Sunday morning randomly on television playing in a Tournament , Watching her play I was immediately hooked on her and the game of Tennis. The combination of femininity determination and beautiful ground strokes had me hooked , She is still working hard at her Evert Academy in Florida. Thank you, Miss Evert for getting me started in this beautiful game.
